How do you buckle up your bridle correctly?

We have already considered the correct order of the straps on our bridle early on. We don't want our horses to feel uncomfortable from pressure on the head while riding. Here, we have briefly written down how, in our opinion, the bridle should be buckled.

The first strap to be fastened after putting on the bridle is the throat latch strap (green). The throat is a very sensitive area of the horse. Our recommendation is that there should be enough space for a fist between the throat latch strap and the jowl, so that the throat latch strap can swing loosely during movement.

The cheek pieces (blue) are fastened once when adjusting the bridle correctly and can then remain closed. They serve to fasten the bit at the correct height. Ideally, the bit sits when one or two folds of skin form at the corner of the horse's mouth.

The noseband, or cavesson (red), should sit two fingers below the cheekbone and be fastened wide enough to allow two fingers to fit between the noseband and the horse's head.

The curb chain must also be fastened correctly. Ideally, you should be able to fit two fingers between the curb chain and the horse's chin.

These are just general guidelines for correctly fastening a bridle. It is always recommended to consult with a professional or experienced equestrian for specific instructions and adjustments based on the horse's individual needs.
